Lecturer in Geography and Global Development (Fixed-term for 1 year)

Salary on appointment will be £47,874 per annum, with an annual increment up to £55,295 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Global Development to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate geography and other related undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, taking responsibility for the delivery and assessment of specific modules. This will include organising modules and developing teaching and learning materials. You may also take responsibility for some of the degree programmes within the school, supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and promote enterprise and engagement at UEA.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in geography or a closely related subject area, or equivalent experience. Supervision experience at postgraduate level and experience in managing relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous.

The School of Global Development is home to more than 30 geographers, anthropologists, sociologists, economists, political and environmental scientists. Our research and teaching span a range of interdisciplinary themes, including development studies, geography, environmental change, media & development, education, environmental justice, migration and humanitarian aid. Colleagues in the School collaborate widely across the university and are actively involved with interdisciplinary initiatives and programmes such as the Global Environmental Justice group, the Science, Society & Sustainability (3S) group, the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development, The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and CreativeUEA. 

This full-time post is available from 6 January 2025 on a fixed-term basis for 1 year.
