An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Global Development to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate geography and other related undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, taking responsibility for the delivery and assessment of specific modules. This will include organising modules and developing teaching and learning materials. You may also take responsibility for some of the degree programmes within the school, supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and promote enterprise and engagement at UEA.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in geography or a closely related subject area, or equivalent experience. Supervision experience at postgraduate level and experience in managing relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous.

The School of Global Development is home to more than 30 geographers, anthropologists, sociologists, economists, political and environmental scientists. Our research and teaching span a range of interdisciplinary themes, including development studies, geography, environmental change, media & development, education, environmental justice, migration and humanitarian aid. Colleagues in the School collaborate widely across the university and are actively involved with interdisciplinary initiatives and programmes such as the Global Environmental Justice group, the Science, Society & Sustainability (3S) group, the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development, The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and CreativeUEA.

This full-time post is available from 6 January 2025 on a fixed-term basis for 1 year.

We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented groups, including candidates who are LGBTQ+, disabled, and/or from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds. We welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 4 November 2024
