The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Statistics or Data Science. Our Statistics group is has a strong reputation for its world-leading research in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Statistical Ecology, and we are looking for outstanding educators who are passionate about contributing to our recognised educational environment.

As a Teaching Fellow, you will make significant contributions to the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will play a key role in the development and delivery of teaching material and ensure a high-quality student experience. You will also have opportunities for professional growth, including collaborating with academic colleagues and participating in key administrative and student-support duties.

As a Teaching Fellow you can expect to be involved in:

  • Delivering engaging and high-quality teaching across a variety of settings, from small tutorials to large lectures
  • Developing excellent teaching and learning support materials for various modules
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking project work
  • Setting and marking assessments and examinations and feeding back to students in a timely manner

What will you bring to the role?

  • Hold a PhD or equivalent experience in Statistics, Data Sciences or a relevant discipline
  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching programmes
  • Ability to engage the interests and enthusiasm of students, inspiring them to learn
  • Evidence of, and a personal commitment to, developing excellence in both teaching and student experience.
