Are you a talented Communications Manager with a passion for higher education? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Communications Manager that will play a pivotal role in managing our communications and engagement with key stakeholders.

We are looking for a talented Communications Manager to lead the development of creative and engaging content on a broad range of channels to support our student recruitment activities, enhance our reputation, and deliver on our communications and content strategies.

As a Communications Manager, you will:

  • Plan and create content for Birkbeck’s media channels, including news stories, blogs, videos, and social media posts.
  • Develop and implement communications and campaign strategies.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for traditional media and manage media enquiries.
  • Champion and ensure consistent brand and corporate identity guidelines.
  • Assist in various Birkbeck events such as student recruitment and graduation ceremonies.

We are looking for a Communications Manager who:

  • Has a strong news sense and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is experienced in managing communications in a large, complex organisation.
  • Can develop and implement effective communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Is proficient in using Microsoft 365, web content management systems, and different social media platforms.

Salary and benefits:

£43,265 to £49,394 per annum, (rising to £43,636 - £49,683 from 03/2025), Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:
