The role

The International Partnership & Relations (Scholarships & Sponsors) team is responsible for all aspects of the University’s relationship with international funders, as well as managing the University’s own International Scholarship Programmes. It is a busy team and although our work is cyclical in nature, the changing funding landscape keeps us on our toes and drives us to be innovative and focused on continuous improvement.

The International Sponsors Manager is an exciting new role in the team.

The successful applicant will be a positive and decisive leader for the Sponsors team and will be responsible for the development and operation of the University’s international sponsorship portfolio, managing and developing relationships with international sponsors, sponsored students and relevant internal stakeholders. They will ensure systems are in place to support international scholars during their academic journey and monitor sponsorship agreements to ensure compliance.

What will you be doing?

It is an exciting time to be joining us in an expanding team. You will be leading a team of 3 staff to deliver ambitious plans to support the best and brightest international students at the University.

  • Expert Guidance & Advice: Provide strategic advice on international funding schemes to internal stakeholders, staying updated on changes and trends.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyse sponsor and student data to showcase return on investment and create comprehensive reports and briefings.
  • Financial Management: Manage financial aspects of sponsorship agreements, including tuition fee discounts and waivers, in collaboration with the Deputy Head of International Partnerships.
  • Global Engagement: Play a key role in overseas events, supporting scholars, funding bodies, and stakeholders, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Networking & Representation: Represent the University at events hosted by international sponsor bodies, building relationships and negotiating effectively.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Tackle operational challenges using your expertise in managing sponsors and the international scholarship landscape.
  • Strategic Review: Continually evaluate

You should apply if

  • A proactive role model with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, able to inspire and bring people together in a busy, complex environment.
  • Experience in scholarship and sponsorship management within Higher Education or charitable organisations (desirable).
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence and negotiate to secure agreements with funding bodies and increase sponsored student numbers.
  • An ideas-driven mindset, enjoying collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail, paired with the ability to see the bigger picture and drive strategic change.
  • Passion for contributing to the University’s internationalisation agenda and delivering impactful results.
