The ER team at Edinburgh Napier University play a pivotal role in developing and delivering practices to enhance our colleague experience, through supporting and providing advice to managers on complex Employee Relations cases, while ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation.
We are an ambitious team who actively encourage innovative thinking about how we can do things differently both within the ER, Policy & Advice Team and the wider People Team.
Currently, we have an opportunity for an ER & Policy Senior Advisor to join us and lead the ER team, supporting our managers across the University in managing case activity by ensuring the consistent application of our policies and processes.
The Role:
This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to use your experience as a generalist or HR Adviser, to lead a team of two ER & Policy Advisers, and your proven track record of progressing case activity promptly and independently while confidently managing risk, will serve you well and as you act as an escalation point, ensuring a pro-active approach to case work is in place.
As someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will play an active part in building and maintaining relationships with our key stakeholders across the University including our Trade Union Colleagues, establishing an early intervention/resolution approach to case work.
These interactions will also give you a prime opportunity to support, coach and develop managers/senior leaders on case management, to enable confident management decisions.
As a subject expert in employee relations, you will be in an excellent position to get involved in developing the competence and capability of your team and of our managers in handling case activity, including the development of toolkits and training sessions.
Furthermore, you will also be able to use your valuable knowledge and experience to develop employee relations processes and practices designed to manage cases through to effective conclusion in line with best practice and legal obligations.
As this is a varied role, you will also have the opportunity to support the development of the processes that underpin our policy framework and get involved in wider People Team projects, furthering your own personal development and widening your knowledge and experience.
