The role

At CENTRIC, we currently have a vacancy for a Research Fellow specialising in applications of law, privacy and data protection to technology and security working across CENTRIC in a variety of security sensitive projects and initiatives.

A key area within this role will be centred on the artificial intelligence (AI) in the legal context of both the UK and the EU security domains.

In this role, you will play a key role in the on-going development and application of projects such as AP4AI, AIPAS, STARLIGHT and LAGO, amongst others, helping to design and implement AI compliance frameworks for accountable, ethical and responsible use of AI.

Furthermore, a good understanding of privacy and data protection, especially in a law enforcement context will be important for this role.

You must have significant experience of rapidly analysing and interpreting legislation in the UK and EU, understand how they apply to various policing and security contexts and support the development of frameworks that enable their application in such areas.

A good understanding technology and a willingness to work with a wide range of stakeholders is essential. You will have the opportunity to lead on aspects of CENTRIC’s projects related to the development of legal and ethical frameworks including running workshops, focus groups and other forms of qualitative and quantitative research as required.

You will support other team members, especially those working in software development in ensuring compliance with legal, ethical and data protection requirements.
