Many of our faculty hold important editorial roles in highly regarded journals such as the Journal of the AIS, the Journal of Information Technology, and the Journal of Strategic Information Systems. 

With the introduction of the new University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-26, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education focused academic positions. These positions are designed for talented educators who are passionate about and have demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum design, educational practice and innovation, and research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators are recognised internationally and within the university for their expertise in educational delivery and will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney.

The Associate Professor/ Professor in Digital Transformation and AI Management (Education Focused) dedicates most of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, they will mentor junior academics, advising on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement. 

The role will drive pedagogical advancements, requiring commitment to research and scholarship in educational methodologies, technology, and pedagogical approaches within Business Information Systems to deliver high-quality educational experiences and outcomes, especially in our lifelong learning programs. It is geared towards scholars who are deeply engaged with teaching and learning and committed to playing a pivotal role in education leadership. The successful incumbent will participate in communities of practice with other education focused roles in the Discipline, School, and University. 

About you 

We are seeking an outstanding Associate Professor or Professor level educator in Digital Transformation and AI Management. Applicants should possess the following capabilities and include a response to each of the Selection Criteria in their cover letter as part of their application: 

  • A completed PhD or higher degree in Information Systems or a related area
  • Deep knowledge of business information systems, digital transformation and AI management
  • Proven international standing for academic excellence demonstrated through original, innovative and distinguished contributions to scholarship and research
  • Capacity to work in a contemporary university context, including innovation in teaching and delivering content in face-to-face and online environments, with a notable track record for enhancing student outcomes and, pioneering educational innovations and supporting their lifelong learning
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate or MBA level, including unit of study coordination, delivery of lectures, and assessment of student learning activities
  • An established network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders with the ability to integrate these relationships to assist in curriculum development and student learning
  • Demonstrated community service with significant contribution to governance and collegial life within the university, including undertaking significant administrative and/or committee positions.

  • Examples of your successful involvement in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning activities
  • Examples of effective teamwork in which you have been involved, including your contribution to the team
  • Your experience of teaching large and diverse groups of students at the MBA level, with a particular focus on your use of learning technologies. 

Term and remuneration 

This is a full-time, continuing position. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the position's responsibilities and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
