About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the empathy curriculum at Leicester Medical School as both an Associate Professor and the Programme Director for Undergraduate and Graduate Empathy Studies. You will be a key contributor to the innovative work of the Stoneygate Centre, led by Professor Jeremy Howick. The Centre is recognized for its pioneering empathy curriculum and is expanding its offerings, including new CPD courses and leadership training. Your role will involve developing, coordinating, and evaluating these teaching activities, with a focus on enhancing both undergraduate and graduate programs, delivered both face-to-face and online.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Oversee the empathy curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the University’s educational strategy.
  • Lead and contribute to the publication of educational research and evaluations.
  • Engage with national and international academic communities, representing the University at conferences and committees.
  • Mentor and support students and colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

About you

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD in a relevant subject area.
  • Significant experience in teaching, curriculum development, and research-led education.
  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and successful supervision of students.
  • Fellowship of the HEA or commitment to obtaining it within 12 months.
