The post holder will join the Chemistry groups led by Prof. Peter Slater, Prof Paul Anderson, Dr Phoebe Allan and will also collaborate with the groups of Prof. Gary Leeke, Prof Emma Kendrick, and Dr. Rob Sommerville, and will work alongside industry (EMR) on the development of recycling strategies for Li ion battery graphite anodes. This work will include detailed characterisation of these materials at various stages of the recovery process, as well as methods to regenerate/repair the graphite to allow use in new batteries. A truly interdisciplinary project within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, this post will work closely with other researchers in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy and Materials. Working on this Industry sprint project associated with the ReLiB project, the postholder will operate within areas of specialism including characterisation and recycling of high graphite anode materials, analyse research findings and results. They will also contribute to licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success (such as revenues, asset or company sales, IP generated) and public understanding of the discipline.
