The University of Worcester is an award-winning, fast growing, and dynamic institution set in a historic city. Worcester is a beautiful cathedral city situated in the heart of England on the banks of the River Severn. It offers all the modern amenities of a city, yet is still close to the Malvern Hills, the Welsh borders, the Wye Valley, and the Cotswolds. It is located close to the M5 motorway and has direct rail links with Birmingham and London. Our staff and student community provides an inclusive and engaged scholarly environment. The number one University in England for gender equality, according to the last three years of the Times Higher Education’s University Impact Rankings, with multiple accolades for teaching quality, inclusion, contribution to the community, and environmental sustainability, the University has been shortlisted as Times Higher Education University of the Year three times in recent years. In the 2023 NSS 100% of students said the History course is intellectually stimulating. Indeed, the History team is among the most research-active in the University, producing ‘world-leading’ outputs for submission to the last Research Excellence Framework (REF), and promoting public, community, and scholarly engagement at regional, national, and international levels.

The Department of History & Sociology is seeking to recruit a Lecturer / Lecturer (Teaching) in History on a part time basis for a fixed term period of four years. Candidates should possess or be approaching completion of a PhD and have subject expertise in at least one of the following areas:
