Project Overview
This project aims to develop sustainable elastomer nanocomposites by exploring functional nanoparticles, new elastomer chemistry and advanced characterisation technologies. The surface chemistry of nanoparticles and interface characterisation with elastomer will be studied, the structure-property-processing relationship of the rubber nanocomposites will be investigated through a suite of advanced technologies, such as atomic force microscopy, wide-angle X-ray scattering, rheology, and dynamic mechanochemical characterisation. The functionality and energy efficiency of the rubber products will be investigated.
The student will receive systematic trainings including polymer chemistry, rubber technology and academic skills. He/she will be working at the International Institute for Nanocomposites Manufacturing (IINM), WMG, University of Warwick, with a full access of the world-class polymer characterisation technologies and rubber research facilities.
