The Strategic Programmes and Change Team at Imperial ensures the successful delivery, implementation, and benefits realization of strategic programmes that enable Imperial’s strategy as a world-changing global powerhouse.

We have 3 roles available for experienced Programme Managers with background in delivering and leading digital transformation, people/organisational transformation or infrastructure transformation.

What you would be doing:

As a Senior Programme Manager, you will lead strategic change programmes or interconnected projects driving organisation-wide transformation.

Your role covers all aspects of programme management, from planning and risk management to governance, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and benefits realisation. You will also act on behalf of the Sponsor or Programme Director, recommending changes to optimise outcomes.

Working closely with the Strategic Change team, you’ll ensure programme alignment with organisational goals, creating the right conditions for success. As part of the Strategic Portfolio Team, you’ll contribute to team culture and enhance the project delivery capability across the University.

You will manage ambitious programmes such as implementing a new ERP system, developing new campuses, transforming the South Kensington campus, and digitising services. These initiatives are critical to delivering Imperial’s strategy and mission.

We are seeking experienced programme managers who can navigate agile, waterfall, and hybrid environments. You should have a proven track record of leading large-scale, high-impact programmes and successfully delivering transformation through strong technical and stakeholder management skills

  • Recognised project management and/or programme management qualification (e.g. Agile, APM, MSP, PRINCE2)
  • Experience in delivering organisation wide or large-scale transformation, business change or strategic programmes in either digital, people or infrastructure transformation
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects using varied methodologies (agile, waterfall, hybrid, product led)
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of quality, benefits, outcomes and value for money in a range of strategic organisation wide projects or programmes
  • Experience establishing and managing project frameworks, including governance, risk, and benefits management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation experience on large programmes.
  • Expertise in driving change in complex organisations, ideally in higher education or similar sectors.
  • Knowledge of diverse project management methodologies and their practical application.
  • Proficient in project delivery processes from inception to evaluation.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Asana, Jira)
  • Strong leadership, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and expectation management.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking problem solver with pragmatic solutions.
