Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Comparative Politics at the Department of Politics and International Relations.

The successful applicant will provide report to Dr Scott Williamson and participate actively in a research group through the UKRI-funded project DEVAL, which studies why people support democracy and how autocrats try to use that support to facilitate authoritarian political outcomes. You will play a key part in developing the group’s research designs, managing data collection and analysis, and writing original research articles.

You will also have the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities and have experience of contributing to publications/presentations, coordinating multiple aspects of the work to meet deadlines, as well as working theories and analyse qualitative and/or quantitative data and contribute ideas to new research projects.

You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, or be close to completion of the PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience and have sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.

Country or area-specific expertise for one of the following regions: Eastern Europe, East Asia, Latin America, Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa would be desirable.

The position is full-time and fixed-term for 3 years.
