Admissions Administrator

University of Cambridge - Lucy Cavendish College

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £31,209 pa
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 20th August 2024
Closes: 9th September 2024

Lucy Cavendish College invites applications for the post of Admissions Administrator.

The Admissions Administrator will support the day-to-day operation of admissions for all undergraduate and postgraduate applicants to the College, including the Foundation Year Programme and the Graduate Course in Medicine.  Their principal responsibility will be to help ensure the smooth running of the annual undergraduate admissions round under the guidance of the Deputy Admissions Director, but at other times of the year they will also assist with postgraduate admissions, learning from colleagues in the process.

The majority of our undergraduate students are admitted from backgrounds that are either disadvantaged or underrepresented at Cambridge and we have higher proportions of students from the maintained sector and from the University’s target demographics than any other College.  We seek a driven individual who shares our values and will contribute to the dynamic team that is tasked with maintaining and furthering these successes.

The post holder will have extensive administrative experience, ideally in admissions or another HE department, or they will be able to demonstrate transferable experience and the ability quickly to learn new systems. We are also interested to receive applications from candidates who have worked in outreach and recruitment activities and now wish to make the transition to admissions. Able to prioritise and to balance multiple commitments at once, they will bring an attention to detail and a thoroughness to their work, which they will be used to delivering to the highest standards. Ideally they would be already familiar with at least some of the University’s numerous systems and processes, or will be able to demonstrate the ability to learn complex new processes quickly. An ability to work with data, as well as competence in IT are the two most essential characteristics. Identifying with our values, they will share our aspirations and our commitment to changing the face of the Cambridge student population.

In return we can offer a benefits package including:

  • 36 days holiday
  • Free meals on shift
  • A 6% employer contributory pension scheme
  • Free car parking (if available)
  • Life assurance x3 salary
  • A health cash back scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing programme including free yoga and bootcamp sessions
