About the Role

The food offer at Queen Mary Students’ Union is varied, wide ranging and integral to the student and staff experience at QMUL. A great role for a Head Chef who would like to improve their work life balance. This role is based across 3 campuses in Mile End, Whitechapel and Barbican.

The primary role of the Venues chef is to ensure you can lead a team of 2 full-time chefs and 15 student-staff ensuring our food delivery reaches the highest possible standards. You will be expected to lead the team, ensuring the highest safety standards, whilst keeping an eye on trends and opportunities to drive our food sales to the next level.

About You

You should be a ‘hands on’, organised and approachable leader who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core, by training them as your kitchen staff to assist in the management of the kitchen. This role’s hours would be predominantly Monday – Friday daytime, but an expectation of evening and weekend work is required in order to operate around the needs of the business and to appreciate the training needs of our student staff team.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, have the ability to work with a wide range of people, must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise service and student staff development amongst other projects taking place.
