The Role

There is a career-defining opportunity at the heart of a department that aims to understand the ever-changing creative industries landscape and prepare graduates for exciting opportunities within this fast-evolving sector. You’ll join a team of academics and industry professionals who are behind developing a future facing programme of research and industry led teaching that seeks to bridge practical training with academic rigor and criticality, drawing upon real-world application of learning through working with industry partners across the sector.

You will have professional experience in at least one of: graphic design, illustration, digital production, advertising or UX design and marketing strategy with both the technical skills to train students to take on work in these fields and the professional experience and networks to guide them towards industry careers. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing a range of modules across year groups, teaching digital design and/or UX design strategy using a variety of technologies and approaches to deliver innovative education to your students that can be translated into real-world skills. If you haven’t already achieved a teaching qualification, in the form of the relevant level of UKPSF recognition, we’ll need you to do so, and we will help you to achieve this.

You’ll share knowledge and expertise through professional consultancy, pursuing opportunities that will generate profitable income and supporting students with valuable opportunities wherever possible.

The Person

On a personal level, we want you to see education as a core priority, going above and beyond to deliver exceptional teaching and support to our students to thrive. You will use your experience of working in the creative industries to promote integrated professional practice across everything you do, imparting practical knowledge to students that they will take with them in their future careers.

Both positions will be expected to engage in pastoral care of a diverse range of students, differing degrees of academic leadership, management, and administration and to maintain relationships and contacts across the Department, Faculty and University.

This is a part-time, permanent position with a starting salary of £21,593.50 per annum (50% pro-rata of £43,187.00 per annum).
