Are you passionate about shaping the future of young learners? Do you excel at creating engaging and innovative educational programmes? Oldham College is seeking a dedicated Transitions Mentor to develop and deliver a range of ‘Pre FE’ and ‘Introduction to College’ pastoral and practical learning programmes.

This role focuses on Personal Development topics, English, math, and employability through innovative short courses.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Transitions Mentor, you will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality sessions that support young people’s engagement, learning, and assessment.

You will ensure the programme content is well-organized and delivered effectively, promoting excellence in educational delivery.

Monitoring and tracking learner attendance and progress will be a crucial part of your role, ensuring that all learners remain engaged and motivated throughout their journey.

Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with faculties across Oldham College to support learners transitioning into full-time courses.

Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues to design and promote enrichment activities that foster personal development and encourage students to become active members of the College community.

Preparing clear, concise reports and maintaining accurate records will be essential to track progress and outcomes, as well as to contribute to the College’s efforts in safeguarding students through joint work with partners.

Direct engagement with students will be a significant part of your role, where you will monitor their attendance, behaviour, progress, and progression, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.

You will design and prepare suitable materials and activities, ensuring all students have access to resources that match their levels and aspirations.

Supporting community outreach initiatives, you will offer meaningful work experience opportunities to learners, enhancing their real-world skills and employability.

Proactively, you will work to improve student retention, progress, achievement, and overall experience, with a particular focus on those identified as vulnerable.

Maintaining accurate records for auditing purposes will be essential to demonstrate the impact of your work. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, will be required to meet the business needs and provide the best possible support to our students.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you should have proven experience in educational programme development and delivery, along with strong organisational and reporting skills.

Excellent communication and collaborative abilities are essential, as is a commitment to student engagement and support. The ability to work flexible hours is also necessary to fulfil the role effectively.
