The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton welcomes applications for the position of Professor or Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry. The successful candidate will strengthen our research expertise and culture within the triple helix strategy of the University, which seeks to achieve cross-fertilisation between research, education and enterprise activity. About the role

We seek candidates with an internationally recognised academic or industrial profile in analytical chemistry, with a specific focus on chromatography and mass spectrometry. The holder of this role will be expected to provide leadership in analytical chemistry research, education and enterprise activities within the School. Our chromatography and mass spectrometry facility has a wide range of techniques available, many of which are unique, supporting research in the School, wider university, nationally and internationally. The vacancy has been created by the retirement of a leading member of the staff that developed this world-leading facility.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Experience in shaping and leading research and enterprise in analytical chemistry.
  • A proven track record in raising external research and/or enterprise funding.
  • An ability to inspire students and colleagues, including through teaching of analytical chemistry.
