The Student Support Officer will sit in the Respect, Culture and Behaviours Team within Student Support and will play a key role in ensuring students who report concerns through our Report and Support platform, get the specialist help they need. The core function of the Respect, Culture and Behaviours team is to provide appropriate support/signposting and intervention for students experiencing a range of issues including sexual violence, hate crime, bullying and harassment.

Our Student Experience Team is a high-performing team which has consistently innovated over the years to ensure our model provides an excellent service to students.

We now wish to appoint a Specialist Case Adviser (Sexual Violence) with diverse skills and experiences who will strengthen our team by sharing our passion for providing continuous support to our diverse student community.

So what will the role involve?

  • Provide advice to students, staff and partners on matters related to student support
  • To have operational responsibility for the day-to-day administration of triaging incoming support cases and allocating these accordingly to relevant specialist advisers within the team
  • Managing your own caseload of students who have experienced a range of issues including for example, bullying and harassment.
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to support resolution of cases
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that teamwork is completed, allocating tasks, and delegating as necessary
  • Promoting a message of no tolerance to hate, bullying and harassment or sexual violence of any kind to the wider university community.
  • Targeting areas within our community that may need specialist support or help.
  • Leading on campaigns around a range of issues that impact our students
  • Contribute to our thinking and be challenging on how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive

The role requires interaction with students from different cultural backgrounds and with that in mind, it is important that you have experience of working with diverse backgrounds whether that is through your previous work history or in your personal life.
