Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Aviation Operations x 2

Kingston University - School of Engineering

Location: Roehampton
Salary: £43,187 to £57,061 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 6th August 2024
Closes: 1st September 2024
Job Ref: 565620

The Role

In these roles you will be expected to teach primarily on the BSc (Hons.) in Aviation Operations, which is a three year programme that enables students to complete their ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) theory in parallel with the degree. The degree only includes the ground school element of the ATPL, but students may also complete their flight training whilst completing their degree. One of the roles will be the Course Leader of the degree.

In both roles you will be expected to teach first year and final year students. In addition to one university module, the second year of the programme is delivered at a partner flying school and you will be required to interact with staff at the flying school to ensure the programme adequately prepares students for the second year and at the end of the second year they can successfully progress to the final year.

The Person

You will be expected to understand the industry expectations of pilots and support students for a successful career in the aviation sector. You will primarily be teaching on both the first and the final year, but you will be expected to support second year students in succeeding in their studies. Ideally you will have an ATPL and experience as a Transport Pilot and although this is not essential, you should have a background where you clearly understand the aviation sector requirements, including PPL (Private Pilot Licence) theory.

The Faculty

There are few faculties across the UK university landscape as varied in their scope as the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment (ECE).
