The European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) is a joint initiative of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). ESRIC’s mission is to be an internationally recognized centre of expertise for scientific, technical, business and economic aspects related to the use of space resources for human and robotic exploration, as well as for a future in-space economy.

The primary objective of ESRIC is to research, develop and improve the understanding and performance of processes enabling the utilization of space resources with an initial focus on the Moon.

How will you contribute?

The Business Accelerator Officer will be responsible for the implementation of a new business accelerator focused on supporting scale-up businesses in the dynamic and growing space resources sector. The accelerator is part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Business in Space Growth Network (BSGN) industry accelerators. In this role, you will work with ESRIC, ESA and the selected businesses to develop tailored acceleration plan. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of the accelerator through the implementation phase. You will co-ordinate future calls for the accelerator programme and work with industry to scout for projects and businesses.

The Business Accelerator Officer will be expected to work with ESRIC’s key stakeholders to implement the accelerator that will meet its deliverables, in addition to supporting this emerging sector. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Definition and implementation of the overall strategy and planning for the acclerator, including reporting to stakeholders;
  • Definition of applicable governance rules for the accelerator in full alignment with ESRIC’s stakeholders;
  • Working with other public, private and financial organizations to identify ways to support the sector;
  • Working with financial and industrial partners to identify future business concepts that can be supported through the accelerator;
  • Updating market studies and intelligence to identify relevant business concepts

As to join us, you will have the following profile:

  • Master's degree in engineering, economics or business administration;
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in business development and the space sector;
  • Knowledge of driving strategic market studies in an international context
  • Experience of working with early stage ventures
  • Knowledge of the Luxembourg ecosystem is considered an asset
  • Experience in project management and ability to develop plans for promoting innovative ideas with the capability to raise TRL
  • Knowledge of space missions and private financing 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, flexible and able to adapt;
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial partners.
  • Excellent autonomy in the management of technical, time management and organizational issues.
  • Excellent English, both written and oral.
