We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Third Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a prestigious academic environment, contributing to the culinary experience of our students, staff, and guests.

Key Responsibilities

As the Third Chef, you will:

• Support Senior Kitchen Staff: Assist the Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef, and Second Chef in delivering high-quality meals and overseeing daily kitchen operations.
• Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure all meals meet our rigorous standards of taste and presentation.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Lead on allergen awareness and ensure adherence to health and safety policies, including safe storage and handling of food.
• Team Leadership: Supervise junior kitchen staff, including Chef de Parties, Apprentice Chefs, and Kitchen Porters. You may also be required to run shifts in the absence of senior chefs.
• Inventory Management: Receive, store, and manage stock efficiently, ensuring minimum waste and maximum quality.
• Training and Development: Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.

Essential:

• NVQ Level 3 and/or City & Guilds 7062, Level 2
• Experience in a similar role within a commercial kitchen
• Intermediate Hygiene Certificate
• Ability to supervise a team
• Reliability and punctuality
• Strong team-working skills and flexibility
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks

Desirable:

• Experience in both college and commercial kitchen environments
• Experience in menu design
