Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

Accommodation Services manages almost 1800 bedrooms on campus as well as accommodation for students on placement in Taunton and Treliske.  We are looking for an enthusiastic team member with a strong interest in developing marketing skills whilst supporting applicants and students throughout their journey from choosing a University, booking accommodation and fully participating in student life whilst in residence.

As well as good basic administration and IT skills, you will have key areas of responsibility throughout the student journey:

  1. Coordinating Accommodation's participation in University Open and Applicant Days. This will include checking our show flats and maintaining their look e.g. decorating for Christmas and other festivals whilst liaising with our buildings provider to have them ready. You will also prepare our stand for Open events, ensuring stocks of leaflets and keeping our presentation materials updated, you will organise the rota of team members in attendance including student ambassadors and take a turn presenting to applicants and their families. You will be required to work all such events approximately 10 Saturdays per year for which time off in lieu is planned and given (dates are usually available a year in advance).
  2. Once applications are received, you will be part of a team answering enquiries and operating external facing social media channels promoting our halls, sharing photos of events and promoting key dates and deadlines.
  3. During clearing and arrivals, you will be essential to ensure that all critical information is relayed to our prospective residents in a timely way as well as promoting various campaigns and suggestions for those leaving home for the first time and sharing the social and entertainment opportunities they can find in our city.
  4. You will encourage engagement for existing residents through social media and Unibuddy using tools such as competitions and giveaways to keep students engaged and informed as well as providing first line query responses.
  5. You will maintain and review content for the University's webpages and prospectuses on a rolling basis working closely with the University's marketing teams.

The Accommodation team sits within Estates and Facilities but works closely across professional services to ensure an excellent student experience. The team works together and shares their experiences during peak demand and so flexibility and the ability to build positive working relationships is essential.

You will also need a willingness to bring new ideas to an ever changing market e.g. using new social media platforms and following student trends.  Applications from new graduates wishing to develop experience in a busy setting are welcome and you are encouraged to make contact if you'd like further information about the work of our services.

Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.

For an informal discussion please contact Lucy Finch by email at lucy.finch@plymouth.ac.uk.

Interviews are likely to take place on Wednesday 21st August 2024.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for a period of 6 months due to business demand.

We regret that there is no opportunity to work from home in this position.
