Faculty / Directorate

Home to four specialist schools: Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy, the Faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The Leicester School of Pharmacy delivers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the highly regarded MSc Clinical Pharmacy, the Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing and the Masters of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme.

Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and many courses have professional accreditations. A range of work experience and volunteering opportunities enable students to develop the skills required by graduate employers. Recent graduates have secured roles with leading employers such as AstraZeneca, the Ministry of Defence and the NHS.

Role

The Leicester School of Pharmacy has an excellent reputation for the delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The School invites applications from highly motivated individuals to teach clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice, and to provide academic leadership. You will be expected to make a full contribution to the design and delivery of learning and teaching materials predominantly at postgraduate level on the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy programme, but also to a lesser extent on undergraduate programmes.

Experience of clinical pharmacy, professional practice, possession of relevant time management and IT skills and an enthusiasm to support the development of pharmacists within the field of clinical pharmacy practice is essential to the delivery of the blended learning programme. You will be required to undertake the role of module lead to review and develop innovative teaching materials in online and in-person formats and liaise with the Programme team to review and develop modules and wider programme materials.

Ideally we are looking for the right individual to work full time but applicants interested in part-time work or a job share will be considered. We would expect this to be a minimum of 3 days per week. The nature of the work means that regular on-campus attendance is required.

Ideal Candidate

You should have a degree in pharmacy and a relevant postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification. Ideally you will be an independent prescriber.

Experience of teaching / mentoring is essential but this does not have to have been in a Higher Education setting. The appointee will be expected to contribute to research and income generation within the Faculty. We also place high value on contributions to academic citizenship activity in the School.
