The School

Design, clustered within the School of the Arts, is an ambitious and growing academic unit. Product Design sits alongside Animation, Games Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and User Experience Design at undergraduate level. Our postgraduate provision includes MA Animation, MA Interior Design, MSc Product Design, and an MA in Virtual and Augmented Realities.

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer to contribute to our vibrant undergraduate and postgraduate Product Design provision. The majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures, assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will have a profile as a product designer and maker with necessary teaching experience. We aim to grow our digital capability and develop further new technology use in the subject. Your role will support industry collaborations and live project development. Teaching will include undergraduate and taught postgraduate.

The range of teaching and student support include:
Inclusive and social design, embedded and emerging technologies, sustainability and ethical practices, digital / craft practices for materials and manufacturing processes, regenerative and biomaterials, design for health and wellbeing or public engagement.

Required skills and experience

Expertise in the area of applied technologies for product design (Industrial Design) including electronics and digital design to support prototyping and delivery of functionality. Fusion360, and the adobe creative suite with particular focus on Photoshop and InDesign are essential.
