About The Role 

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to utilise their skills and expertise in developing a first-class Timetabling service to students and colleagues across the institution. The role holder will have operational responsibility for an effective and efficient defined timetabling service. As the business owner of the timetabling system and the operational service lead the role holder will ensure that services are delivered, reviewed, and linked into the aims of the function and broader university.

We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until October 2025.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in student administrative services or similar. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training
  2. Evidence of strong analytical skills, including the ability to generate and interpret data and to explore, evaluate and interpret complex sets of information, ‘what if’ scenarios, draw conclusions, report, and recommend potential solutions with practicable courses of action. 
  3. Ability to balance competing demands and manage expectations, both for your own workload and that of a team, bearing in mind the needs of the customer and operational priorities  
  4. Experience of space planning and management challenges
  5. Experience of undertaking large scale data gathering / information retrieval and statistical analysis
  6. Proven experience using a timetabling software package (preferably Syllabus / Enterprise) with ability to comprehend and converse with internal and external colleagues around technical matters relating to existing or future software. indicators  
  7. Familiarity with working to, developing and review of service level agreements and key performance indicators.
  8. Experience of leading and managing teams, with a pro-active and development focused approach. Strong negotiating / influencing skills- ability to work with all levels of stakeholders.

Desirable criteria

  1. Knowledge of the issues facing the HE sector 
  2. To be experienced in a complex, multi-campus environment and lead on the provision of a full academic timetabling service 
  3. Good attention to detail even when working under pressure and to deadlines. Able to prioritise and delegate.
  4. A good understanding of interdependent software systems and operations that are external but relevant to Timetabling 
  5. Strong negotiating / influencing skills- ability to work with all levels of stakeholders.
