This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed User Services team and make a difference to the Student Experience at Birkbeck.

The User Services Assistant will play a key role in providing a high-quality IT and Library customer-focused service while working at the service desk and responding to enquiries in-person and online. You will also be involved in students’ induction and orientation, and you will carry out communication and marketing activities including social media and the creation and maintenance of user guides.

You will work in a team and participate in the rota to cover the online and in-person enquiry service between 8.00am and 11.45pm.

You should have previous experience of working in a public-facing role and as part of a team, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to the provision of an excellent customer service to library users.

We will offer the successful candidate training and will expect the postholder to develop knowledge in many areas to assist with one-stop frontline enquiries about for example Wi-Fi, printing, access to college platforms like Moodle, resources, membership, library facilities and study environment.

Interviews will be held on 5th and 6th August 2024.

Contract
This role is offered on an open-ended basis.

We are seeking to appoint User Services Assistants to the following posts:

Post 1: Monday to Friday, 4.00pm to midnight (35 hours per week)

Post 2: Monday, Friday, 8.00am to 11.00am; Saturday 10.00am to 6.00pm (13 hours per week)

Post 3: Saturday 4.00pm to 8.00pm; Sunday 9.45am to 3.15pm (9.5 hours per week)

Post 4: Saturday 8.00pm to midnight; Sunday 3.15pm to 8.15pm (9 hours per week)

Salary and benefits:
Grade 3 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £26,668 rising to £29,392 per annum (full time), salary will be pro rata based on the work pattern selected.
