We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated, well-organised and customer-focussed individual to support the work of the Doctoral Programme and Provision Team in Research, Partnerships and Innovation in the management of funding for postgraduate research students (PGRs).

You will take a proactive approach to your work and have excellent communication and information management skills. You will support the PGR Scholarships Officer in managing PGR funding processes and offering specialist advice and guidance to PGRs and University staff.  Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Providing administrative support for the processes underpinning the recruitment of funded PGRs
  • Offering advice and guidance to students and staff regarding funder policies
  • Setting up tuition fee and stipend payments for new PGRs and managing payments for current PGRs
  • Maintaining student records on internal and external databases

You will have a straightforward, customer-focussed communication style, an eye for detail and an ability to understand and apply policies and procedures, and to be able to advise students and staff clearly. You will be comfortable working with figures and databases.

An understanding of our postgraduate research student community would be an asset but is not essential.  A desire to make a positive contribution to the experience that postgraduate research students have here at Sheffield is essential.  You will have a can-do approach and enjoy a volume of work with constantly changing priorities.  You will join a supportive team.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK, with a reward package including:

  • 38 days annual leave (including closure days and Bank Holidays), with the possibility to purchase up to ten additional days.
  • A commitment to work life balance including flexible working opportunities and hybrid working where possible.
  • A highly competitive pension scheme.
  • Discounts at participating shops and cinemas, and a cycle to work scheme.
  • A commitment to your development, with programmes, learning modules and mentoring schemes.
  • A commitment to your wellbeing, with confidential emotional support, support for those going through the menopause, experiencing fertility treatment, and having a baby, paid leave for IVF treatment and more.
