Course Leader, BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures (0.8 FTE)
Our university
Ravensbourne University London is an innovative, industry-focused university located at the heart of London’s newest creative community on the Greenwich Peninsula. We're champions of creativity and collaboration, dedicated to giving our learners the specialist skills and opportunities they need for outstanding careers in digital media and design.
The role
Ravensbourne’s renowned BA(Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures course (IDEAs) is known for producing highly employable graduates with a distinctive personal design identity equipped with future-proof skills. This is a unique course worldwide that is validated under ARB and RIBA Part 1 criteria and has the same standards as our BA (Hons) Architecture course. It is embedded in a department that collaborates cross-disciplinarily in architecture, interior architecture, and landscape architecture.
The candidate
We are seeking to recruit an innovative educator to provide leadership and management of our BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures course.
Working closely with the Head of the Department of Architecture, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for each of the levels of the BA IDEAs course. In addition, they will contribute and collaborate to the successful organization, teaching, and assessment of BA Architecture, BA Urban Landscape, and future courses in spatial practices and be involved in cross-disciplinary activities across Ravensbourne.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant professional knowledge of and experience in spatial design, particularly in the re-use of buildings, architecture and the architectural profession, together with academic teaching experience. They will have a first degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject and should be able to demonstrate a strong teaching record.
The successful candidate should also have a thorough knowledge of architectural history and theory and current practice, an interest in emerging technologies and familiarity with the use of virtual learning environments and associated teaching methodologies. A detailed understanding and experience of the meaning and process of professional accreditation – in particular for ARB and RIBA – is a bonus.
The candidate should have experience in the area of curriculum development and delivery and will have the ability to design and implement creative teaching and learning strategies that bring architecture career roles to life. The candidate will possess excellent leadership and organisational skills, have the ability to engage, and motivate students directly with their discipline and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts towards industry-ready profiles.
The successful candidate will work and collaborate with other senior leaders in a cluster where students have shared delivery covering a range of courses in spatial practices such as interior architecture and landscape.
