About the Role
Ground Cafe at Queen Mary University of London, provides our students, staff, and members of the public with a wide range of cold/hot food and a space to relax, socialize, and study.
We place a huge emphasis on outstanding customer service and satisfaction. We are continuously looking to improve and expand our offering to our customers here at QMUL which is why we are looking for someone who enjoys and excels at the customer-facing aspect of this role but is also looking in the future to learn all there is about running a cafe. We would also enjoy the capacity to help make positive developments and changes. Sustainability and ethical awareness are paramount to what we do here at Queen Mary Students’ Union which is a key feature in all of our commercial outlets, including Ground café.
Queen Mary Students’ Union represents and supports over 30,000 students and around 4,500 staff who comprise the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London. Ground Cafe is based on our Mile End Campus of the University, which is close to both Mile End and Stepney Green Underground Station.
About You
You should be a ‘hands-on’ approachable leader who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core. This role’s hours would be predominantly Monday – Friday, with a variety of different shifts, with the flexibility to adapt working hours to suit the needs of the business. Some weekend work would be required during busy times.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
