About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Katherine Branch (Director of Operations for the Department of Physics) at k.branch@warwick.ac.uk or Donna McIntyre (Director of Operations for the Department of Chemistry) at Donna.McIntyre@warwick.ac.uk.
Are you passionate about the role of workshops in advancing cutting-edge research and teaching?
This is an exciting and new opportunity to lead the shared Workshop Facility in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics. It is a permanent full-time position available for an immediate start.
The Workshop Manager will manage all aspects of staffing, instrumentation, and machinery in the Workshop Facility, which includes our mechanical, electronic and glassblowing workshops.
This role requires close collaboration with colleagues across the University, including technical, research and academic staff and students from the Departments of Chemistry and Physics. Additionally, the candidate will engage with external academic collaborators and industry partners.
Training will be provided as appropriate. The role is predominantly based on campus due to the nature of work, with some scope for hybrid working once probation is completed satisfactorily.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in a mechanical and/or electronic workshop environment, combined with management experience from working in a similar facility.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build professional relationships with people at all levels. You will bring practical experience of planning and organising in a workshop facility along with knowledge of relevant health, safety, security and legislative requirements, to ensure the efficient operation of the facility and training and support for the workshop teams.
For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.
