The role

We are seeking an experienced finance professional looking to make a real impact in higher education here at the University of Bristol. This is a unique chance to work as a Finance Business Partner in the Infrastructure, Planning and Strategy Team within a prestigious institution committed to excellence and innovation. The team look after the finances for the University’s £1 billion Capital Programme alongside providing partnering support to a range of Professional Services Divisions, leading the monthly reporting, annual budget process, and managing the organisation’s long term financial plan.

As Finance Business Partner (Infrastructure and Projects) your focus will be on Campus Operations (operates and maintains over 300 buildings across our estate and operates our Student Residential Portfolio) and our Sport, Exercise and Health operations. You will give financial advice and support to assist with decision-making and help to shape and improve financial strategies that also drive the university’s wider growth and impact. You will work closely with the Head of Finance in delivering Management Information which is key in support of budgeting and forecasting across the financial year. In this highly versatile role, you will play a crucial part in the budget process and have the chance to deliver top quality accounting support to your stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

  • You will partner with key stakeholders to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Lead on budgeting and forecasting processes in line with the correct accounting treatment and the Division’s specific initiatives and goals.
  • You will provide financial management, core salary tracking and approval of internally funded posts.
  • Analysing data, you will provide Management Information, identify growth, and cost saving opportunities.
  • Use negotiation and influencing skills when working stakeholders to direct outcomes and advise them. 

You should apply if

  • You are an experienced Accountant and business partner with proven proficiencies in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and planning.
  • You have advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and can manage a busy workload delivering to tight deadlines.
  • You are a Qualified Accountant, or you are qualified by equivalent experience.
  • Communication is key to the way you work, and you can utilise these skills in verbal, written and presentation format.
