The role
The Berger team is seeking to fill a BBSRC-funded senior Post-doctoral Research Associate post (Grade J) at the School of Biochemistry, University of Bristol UK. You will drive world-class structural biology research to decipher the structure and mechanism of the transcription pre-initiation complex (PIC) in the growing oocyte, and use an integrated approach to elucidate this fundamental biological process of gene expression combining cutting edge cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), biochemical and biophysical techniques.
You will be working closely with our international collaborators the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France, The University of Regensburg, Germany, and the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA.
You will participate in a vibrant and dynamic, inclusive and equitable research environment in a laboratory developing and applying cutting edge technology to generate new knowledge and biological insights in a top 10 UK University, in one of the best cities to live in the UK.
What will you be doing?
You will be part of a leading research team deploying structural techniques including cryo-EM, biophysical and biochemical methods to uncover fundamental mechanisms of gene expression at the core of development, reproduction and infertility. Showing a high degree of independence, you will drive an ambitious research programme, synergizing with your colleagues in the Berger team and our world-class collaborators, using cutting edge technologies.
