- THE ROLE -
The AICRIstart programme is a foundation stone for the All-Island Cancer Research Institute (AICRI) and will build critical mass in precision cancer medicine on the island of Ireland. The programme is funded by a €4 million Strand III Higher Education Academy (HEA) North-South Award and involves ten academic institutions (UCD, TCD, RCSI, TU Dublin, DCU, QUB, UU, UG/NUIG, UL and UCC). As part of this network, we are now seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The post holder will work as part of a collaborative project based on chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). This project will investigate the host-microbe interaction in CLL with the aim to identify early signs of immune deterioration in the microbiome, which may be leveraged to identify at risk patients that will benefit from early intervention. The successful candidate will become an integral member of a dynamic and collaborative research group that values research excellence, translational impact, and a vibrant research culture.
The post is based at the Personalised Medicine Centre (PMC), School of Medicine, Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Derry~Londonderry (Matchett Lab) and will require regular travel/periods of work at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Coleraine campus (McDowell Lab).
We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.
