This is a new post in the HR Team where you will be line managing and advising our Senior HR Officers and HR Officers who administer day-to-day aspects of recruitment and personnel administration.

The expectation is that you will be involved in operational day-to-day tasks in a supervisory position, being responsible to ensure a smooth and effective HR service. HR operations in this context mean tasks involving recruitment and personnel administration, including, for example, new starter processes, payroll, and general HR reporting of current staff.

Additionally, you will be working closely with the HR Manager to improve processes in the team, and support departmental projects, for example, around EDI initiatives.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.

This position is offered full-time on a permanent basis with the expectation to work on site most of the week. To give you a good induction to the team and the department, it is expected that you would work fully on-site initially.

About the department

The Department of Paediatrics encourages staff to develop their skills by offering all staff ten paid days of professional development each year. The department also has a departmental policy where staff can apply for funding or additional days for training courses to support their professional development. We also offer financial assistance of up to 20% for visa renewal fees.

About you

You will have proven experience of managing a human resources function, and being an empathetic and motivational leader with a positive mind-set. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills with all level of staff staff and an ability to operate effectively with the ability to deal with your own and the HR Officer team’s deadlines.

You will have the ability to adapt to changes that affect the HR Team and their processes with a can-do attitude and service-orientated mind-set to meet the demands of the department.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
