About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr Lindsay Baker and be part of MIGRATE, an interdisciplinary collaboration investigating the migration of neurons during development of the brain. This role will use cellular electron cryotomograpy (cryoET) and subvolume averaging, assisted by SPOT DNA tags (Silvester et al., Cell 2021), to understand the arrangement and assembly of guidance molecules on the surface of neuronal cells, working closely with other PDRAs in MIGRATE on advanced imaging and structural biology techniques.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 4 years.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
You will hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in cell biology, structural biology, biophysics or a related discipline. You will have knowledge and experience with cryoEM sample preparation, data collection and processing and have relevant knowledge and experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique and live cell fluorescence microscopy. You will have demonstrated ability to manage your time and planning your own research and associated activities. Excellent oral and written communication skills are expected including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and represent the research group at meetings.
