About the Role
Queen Mary has an excellent international reputation and attracts overseas students from over 170 countries. The Immigration Compliance team provides specialist administrative support for our international student community ensuring students have the right to study in the UK for the duration of their studies, individual records are accurately maintained and the UKVI sponsor guidance is adhered to. This is a new role within the directorate and demonstrates the university’s ongoing commitment in the recruitment of and management of international students.
The Head of Student Immigration Compliance will be responsible for the development and co-ordination of QMUL student immigration compliance policies and procedures and will provide professional and effective management of all student compliance related matters. Working closely with the relevant professional services teams, the post will have oversight for policy review and development and will play a pivotal part in managing the likely impact on the recruitment of international students from changes to UK government policy.
About the Department
Registry Services has responsibility for the maintenance of a student’s personal and academic record from the point of enrolment through to award, the scheduling of an academic timetable, the organisation and delivery of invigilated examinations, the distribution of the Queen Mary bursary and other approved scholarships, ensuring compliancy with immigration rules and dealing with academic and regulatory queries from both students and staff.
The Immigration Compliance Team is located within Registry Services and is responsible for ensuring QMUL remains fully compliant with UKVI sponsorship duties.

You will have a strong background in leading immigration compliance and developing policy within a university setting. You will be confident in dealing sensitively with enquiries on all aspects of the international student journey.
