About the Role

The School of Engineering and Materials Science is offering appointments for applicants with an Engineering, Materials Science or Robotics background to provide assistance for undergraduate teaching activities. The Engineering background includes Aerospace, Mechanical, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering. The Teaching Associate team supports the academic staff in the delivery of high-quality education, provides support in the classroom and the laboratory, and is involved in student tutoring, assessment of coursework, and facilitating key skills and problem-based learning activities. The post holders will also be involved in the School’s Outreach activities. This is a valuable opportunity to obtain a wide range of teaching experience. 

About You

You will have an undergraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience in Engineering, Materials Science or Robotics. You will have knowledge of the relevant subject at undergraduate level and the ability to present specialist material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner, both to students and to fellow specialists.

About the School

The posts sit within the School of Engineering and Materials Science. There are around 1200 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and over 200 PhD students within our London operation, supported by an academic staff of about 75 and an administrative and technical staff of around 45.

The School is in the middle of an exciting and substantive teaching review, which focuses on the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in which skills training and professional practice are foremost, to support the training of professional engineers.
