King’s CTU is responsible for a large portfolio of medicinal and non-medicinal clinical trials and has a strong commitment to manage the delivery of the service to support investigators in the delivery of efficient, cost-effective trials. Unnecessarily bureaucratic processes are not advocated within KCTU, and we are seeking a candidate committed to the efficient expenditure of public money in the delivery of trials.
About the role
The post holder will work in the pharmacy section of the operational team to provide IMP management support to Chief Investigators, to include, but not limited to identifying and agreeing the requirements for active and comparator IMPs for clinical trials, discussing intervention blinding options, sourcing suppliers, agreeing manufacturing plans, storage and distribution arrangements and technical specifications for manufacture. S/he will also develop and deliver operational plans for the area to support Chief Investigators in their delivery of multicentre trials, in accordance with relevant regulations governing IMP management practices.
Duties will include providing specialist IMP management support to Chief Investigators, maintaining adequate stock levels of the IMP at the manufacturer/vendor and study sites for the entire life cycle of supported projects, managing communications between the Chief Investigator and the manufacturer/s, and working closely with the contract’s team/s, Sponsor/s and Trial Manager/s to deliver clinical trials with specific responsibility for IMP management.
Applicants must be qualified pharmacists and have sufficient clinical trials experience i.e. in hospital, academia and/or industry. S/he should understand the rationale underpinning aspects of clinical trials legislation.
This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
The post holder will be based at Denmark Hill but will be expected travel to other locations for project meetings as required, typically within KHP. Limited travel across the UK and overseas may be required but not on a regular basis.
