St Antony’s College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant to support the work of the European Studies Centre (ESC). This is a varied and interesting role involving events management and communications, as well as general administration.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the ESC Administrator in delivering first-class administration, events organisation, and communications for the ESC, as well as having direct responsibility for supporting two research programmes in the Centre.

The ESC hosts an extensive programme of seminars and events throughout the year, and you will be play a key role in organising and publicising these events. You will also be a key point of contact for enquiries, as well as undertaking general office administration.

To be successful in your application, you will have relevant administration, event coordination, and communications experience with a keen eye for detail and an ability to work independently and resourcefully. Strong organisational and time-management skills and a flexible, proactive approach to your work, together with the ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively with a wide range of people will be essential. Experience of working in a higher education setting and knowledge of or interest in European affairs would be advantageous. As the workload is variable, it may be necessary to work outside core hours occasionally, including evenings and weekends (with time off in lieu being taken).

St Antony’s College is one of the seven graduate colleges of the University of Oxford. The College specialises in the interdisciplinary study of international relations, economics, politics and history of particular parts of the world and has around 550 postgraduate students. The European Studies Centre (ESC) is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of Europe, with particular strengths in politics, history, and international relations, and is one of the seven regional research centres at St Antony’s College.
