The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.
We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavor of every employee.
Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.
The role
We are seeking to appoint a Student Engagement Assistant to work in our Student Experience team, providing support to teams delivering student engagement activity.
As a Student Engagement Assistant, you will work with members of the Events and Communities Team supporting the delivery of events, community activities, and student voice activities. The primary focus of the role is on student-facing activity that enables extensive student engagement across the Student Life Directorate
There will be some weekend or evening work required to support events, but plenty of notice will always be provided.
About you
The successful candidate will have experience of planning and organising workloads in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment. You will be joining a highly collaborative team and will be required to demonstrate a friendly and efficient approach. This position will suit someone who likes a varied role where no two days are the same.
You should be confident in your use of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams with the ability to learn other internal IT systems.
What we can offer
In addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles), a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.
How to apply
To apply please submit a CV and a cover letter outlining how you meet the requirements of the role. Please note that applications without these documents will not be considered.
Interviews will be held Monday 22 July.
We appreciate that sometimes people can be put off applying if they don't match every requirement. However, if you're excited about the role and think you can do what we've described we welcome your application. If you're not sure quite who we are looking for, do contact us with any questions.
