Are you interested in working in a dynamic research environment to take your clinical career to the next level? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinically qualified individual with and interest in cancer immunology and breast cancer bone metastasis to contribute to an ongoing research project focused on improving immunotherapies for premenopausal women with breast cancer. This Yorkshire Cancer Research funded clinical PhD studentship will be carried out in the internationally renowned “Ottewell laboratory” in collaboration with research scientists and clinicians based at the Universities’ of Sheffield and Manchester. The project is designed to provide the pre-clinical data that will be used inform a planned future clinical trial. You will receive laboratory-based supervision from the principle, co-investigators as well as from a dedicated post-doctoral researcher (PDRA) and guidance on clinical trial design will be provided by Prof Matthew Winter. As part of this project you will perform in vivo experiments designed to model effects novel neoadjuvant treatment combinations under pre- and post-menopausal conditions. You will also be responsible for working with the PDRA to perform analysis of tumour burden in small animal models, isolate and quantifying tumour and immune cell populations from metastatic organs and perform co-culture experiments for ex vivo analysis of tumour cell- immune cell interactions. As part of this PhD you will also be involved in writing the future, associated, clinical trial design that we hope the student to drive forward on completing this PhD. This project comes with generous funding to enable attendances at national and international conferences and you have the opportunity to write abstracts and contribute to production of research and review articles.
