About the role

Finance and Performance are seeking an motivated, proactive individual to join the Business Accountants team on a permanent basis.

The post holder will work in partnership with Faculties and Professional Services, providing support and advice as appropriate to retain focus on value for money, wider issues and enable achievement of the targets in the BU Strategic Plan.

Significant experience preparing and monitoring budgets and the ability to use complex spreadsheets and reporting systems is essential along with a CCAB professional qualification.  You will also demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills as these are required to influence a wide range of colleagues.

In addition, the post holder will produce monthly management accounts highlighting key variances. You will also be working with budget holders and other key stakeholders to prepare the annual budgets and complete forecasts for the year end outturn for the designated Faculties and Professional Services.

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’sPoints Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.  

About the department

The Finance and Procurement department provides advice and support on financial and commercial matters to teams across the university, as well as ensuring that all regulatory demands are adhered to and financial transactions are timely, complete, and accurate for all income and expenditure, including payroll. The Procurement team works with a wide range of suppliers, helping to manage all BU procurement activity and assisting and advising the University’s faculty and professional service departments in relation to their purchasing requirements.
