The Post

Post open to internal and external secondments.

The Enterprise Programme Officer (SIEC) will take a lead role in coordinating enterprise support for emerging founders and commercial start-ups aligned to the work of Scotland’s International Environment Centre (SIEC). The post holder will work to maximise the potential of SIEC by focusing on enterprise skills development and enabling company creation and growth.  They will identify the appropriate range of support structures and mechanisms, including access to workshops, business advice, pre-accelerators, competitions, company creation resources, business incubation space, and networking opportunities to grow the institution’s innovation community. Over the contract term, the post holder will have a particular focus on the planning and delivery of a series of pre-accelerator boot camps for a diverse range of aspiring regional founders.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise, the role holder will work with Enterprise and SIEC colleagues, and the SIEC Manager, who leads and co-ordinates Business Accelerator activities. They will also work with colleagues from across the Research, Innovation and Business Engagement Directorate, other Professional Services, and Academic Faculties.

This role will allow for hybrid working in alignment with the University’s agile working framework. The role holder will be required to provide some on-site cover in Stirling and Alloa and/or work away from the office as required to engage effectively with partners and stakeholders.

Description of Duties

  • Working with the University’s Head of Enterprise, and with the University’s Enterprise and SIEC colleagues, plan and deliver a range of enterprise support activities and services to facilitate the establishment and growth of responsible start-up companies of all kinds
  • Manage the development and provision of enterprise support, ensuring activities and services meet diverse client [emerging founders] needs
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure excellent provision of incubator facilities and wrap-around support for resident start-ups
  • Line-manage student/graduate part-time interns
  • Establish and manage external networks through which enterprise support can be informed, accessed, and delivered, including with intermediaries

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or employment experience across a range of relevant roles with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Extensive practical experience in a directly relevant role, including experience of working successfully in the area of enterprise education/support
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver large scale events
  • Experience of working successfully within complex regulations/frameworks
