The CivicUEA programme is a strategic pillar of work that encompasses all aspects of the university, from academic faculties to professional services, and students. It is supported by senior academics with buyout time as Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellors, and an Administrator. The CivicUEA Team also work closely with the Public Affairs team, and the Research and Innovation Division’s three strategic research themes (ClimateUEA, CreativeUEA, and HealthUEA).
This role is focused on embedding and implementing the values, promises and commitments made in the Charter across the university. This will be an exciting and varied role that will include supporting and planning events, helping Schools and Faculties develop tailored civic strategies for research, teaching and engagement; working with relevant local stakeholders and promoting the Civic work of the university internally and externally.
You will be responsible for coordinating the activities of CivicUEA to raise the profile of UEA civic activity. You will be tasked with developing a strategy to support the implementation of UEA’s Civic Charter values and commitments, across the university. This will include helping to develop and implement Division, Department, Faculty and school civic strategies, embed and create a legacy of civic work for the institution. Externally, this will include partnership working with our stakeholders here in East Anglia, including local authorities, not for profit, business and industry, in activities and engagement work. The role will provide support for networking events, communications and knowledge exchange, as well as high quality funding bids with external partners aimed at further enhancing the social purpose of what we do at UEA for our region.
You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent, relevant experience. An interest in or previous experience working in the Civic Higher Education field is desirable but not essential. Project management or other higher level management qualification is also desirable.
This part-time (0.6 FTE) post is available from 2 September 2024 on a fixed-term basis of 11 months.
A secondment will be considered, and applicants should please ensure that a secondment will be possible with their Line Manager/Head of Department, before submitting a formal application.
