Overview of the role

To take Administrative responsibility of all non-matriculated student programmes at Oriel College and to underpin the College’s current Visiting Student and Summer institute programme and to design and develop additional programmes in conjunction with the Treasurer and the Academic Advisory Panel members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Programme oversight

Design a strategic framework for delivering extra mural programmes to support the mission of the College and diversity the income streams association with extra mural activity

  • Visiting students – responsible for all academic and administrative matters relating to visiting students programmes
  • Summer Institute – responsible for the established Summer Institute programme engaging external and internal resources to deliver structured programmes to non-matriculated students studying in non-term periods
  • Extra mural programmes – responsible for the design and development of new educational programmes along with engagement of new educational and commercial partners
  • To act as a point of contact for pastoral or academic issues, and to consult with College Officers about problems which may arise Oriel College, UK Registered Charity No. 1141976
  • To advise the College on matters relating to Extra Mural programmes as required

Ambassadorial role

  • To increase numbers from current partner institutions.
  • To set up relationships with new institutions.
  • To produce material for current and prospective partners to promote the scheme.
  • Liaise with tutors to integrate VS prog into the college and expand teaching provision
  • To organise and attend events for VS

Key operational duties

  • Assessment of candidates and selection for admission to the programmes
  • Engage with academics to co-design programmes and employ appropriate resources
  • To ensure programming is run in a manner compliant with applicable legal requirements and in line with College policy
  • To represent the College at the Induction of students participating on Extra Mural programmes

Line management

  • Manage the performance of the Visiting and Extra Mural programme administrator ensuring that their work is compliant with legislation, customer focussed, accurate and timely

Financial responsibility

  • Budget management and accountability for all Visiting and Extra Mural Student programmes
  • Strategic financial growth plan to develop to sustainable levels of activity

Selection criteria

Essential

  • Degree educated (any discipline)
  • Post degree business/professional Qualification
  • Financially and commercially astute with entrepreneurial flair
  • Demonstrably strong administrative capability
  • Customer focused

Desirable

  • Exposure to higher education teaching programmes
  • Understanding of and capability in marketing tools and techniques
  • Experience of welfare and pastoral work
  • Experience as an Oxford Tutor
  • Knowledge of US transcripts and grading systems
