Background
We are looking to recruit a genomics specialist to assist with the genomics research team within the Surgical Research Group (led by Prof Andrew Beggs). The group has wide ranging research interests and is a fast-paced multidisciplinary laboratory.
You will be working as part of the Stratified Medicine Paediatrics 2 (SMPaeds2) programme in collaboration with The Institute of Cancer Research, London, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) and European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). This is work researching into blood cancers and solid tumours, including in the brain, muscle and bone in children and young people. This is the second phase of the SMPaeds programme, pushing forward with a precision medicine approach by developing assays to detect and monitor individual cancer cases using non-invasive methods.
You will develop new assays using cutting edge technologies to answer a variety of research questions. The successful candidate will incorporate new technological developments as they become available which will require skills in continuous optimizing, improving, and implementing of new workflows. You will mentor and provide support to group members and assist with their research aims as required. You will ideally have extensive experience with several genomic techniques and methodologies.
This post is fixed term for 3 years from November 2024.
