The Corporate Reporting Team within the Finance Department at The University of Central Lancashire has responsibility for all corporate level financial MI provided to the Executive Team, including the submission of financial returns to funding and regulatory bodies along with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for all teaching income across the University (circa £200 million).
The position of Management Accountant will contribute across all areas of the team’s activities. However, the main area of responsibility is in relation to delivering the budgets, monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts, and year end reports for teaching income along with detailed variance analysis at cost centre level.
The role will require cross departmental working, both with service departments responsible for student recruitment and faculties recruiting students. There will also be significant interaction with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure that all reported outputs are validated and feed into total income forecasts across the institution.

You will utilise strong technical and financial systems knowledge, along with excellent communication skills, to provide MI that is a foundation for key strategic decisions made by the University, and you will gain exposure at the highest levels of the organisation.
The post holder will ideally have experience in the HE sector but this is not essential. They will have strong Excel skills and be confident in manipulating large data sets to support analysis. They will also feel comfortable communicating to groups, presenting their outputs and be able to clearly articulate details of processes they have undertaken.
The post holder will have AAT Level 4/part qualified and studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent). Ideally the post holder will have previous experience of use of Business World, but some experience of using a corporate financial system is key.
