We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated individual to lead a new buildings operations team within the Life and Mind Building (LaMB).

The LaMB is currently under construction and is the largest building project the University has ever undertaken. It will house advanced research laboratories as well as modern lecture theatres and will significantly improve the way psychological and biological science is undertaken in Oxford, helping scientists to solve some of our major global challenges. It will be home to the Department of Experimental Psychology and the Department of Biology.

We are seeking an experienced Building Operations Manager to oversee the operational readiness and ongoing management of this new facility. The role holder will be responsible for the successful operational launch and will, therefore, need to develop and implement comprehensive operational plans and policies.

This role requires a proactive leader with expertise in facilities management, operational planning, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders and facility users to ensure the building meets all operational needs and standards from day one.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead the strategic and operational delivery of building and facilities management services, overseeing the provision of first-class research environment for all building occupants. Managing a team of at least 7 members of staff, you will be responsible for both hard and soft facilities services, including lab support and facilities administration.

A senior position, the role will require working closely with the Head of Building Operations, as well as the Heads of Administration and Finance of the occupying departments.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable and significant experience of building and facilities management at a senior level, including experience in a scientific environment, as well as an understanding of engineering infrastructure in scientific facilities. You will have effective team management and leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing at all levels, being proficient in creating technical reports.
