The Spanish and Portuguese Section in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full-time Teaching Associate in Modern Spanish Literary and Cultural Studies. The post is fixed term for two years, with a start date of 1 September 2024. The Section commits to providing career development and mentoring for the successful candidate.

The Teaching Associate will contribute to the teaching (both lectures and supervision) and examining of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and to the administration of the Section's activities. The TA will be expected to make significant contributions to undergraduate papers such as Sp1 (Introduction to the Language, Literatures and Cultures of the Spanish-speaking World), Sp4 (Modern Spanish Culture and History), and Sp9 (Spanish Literature, Thought, and History after 1820).

Candidates should have a specialization in modern Spanish and/or Iberian Studies and be able to contribute to core aspects of our teaching programme from the late eighteenth century to the present. We particularly welcome applicants who have research interests in Film and Visual Culture, as well as those with the ability to contribute to the teaching of Catalan culture and/or translation (English to Spanish and/or Spanish to English).

Candidates will have relevant teaching experience, hold a PhD in a relevant field and be able to demonstrate active, collegial engagement in research, teaching and outreach in Spanish and Latin American Studies. Fluent or near-fluent command of both Spanish and English is essential.
